The Geological Society of Finland (SGS) is the largest and oldes geological association in Finland. It was founded in 1886. The Society promotes geological and mineralogical research in Finland and increases the common interest towards them. The most importat function for the Society has always been to arrange meetings and scientific lectures. The Society arranges symposia, conrsesses, and excursions lasting up to several days.

Publishing is another importat function of the Society. Bulletin of the Geological Society of Finland is the major scientific forum. Geologi (in Finnish), appeared since 1949, contains short scientific articles, statements, reports on excursions, congresses, and symposia as well as book reviews. You can write articles in English to Geologi, too.
